Something tells me NVH with solid engine mounts might be a little harsh though! Although maybe its done shittily enough to not really be solid anyways.

Someone thought this was sassier than a bolt
Edit: I meant to say “easier.” I am not changing it.

S omewhere in a drawer, there's another severed handle just waiting for his day in the sun.

I would guess this is a generator or pump or something.

I think the actual bushing is rubber so there is some isolation. I am impressed by what appears to be really nice welding on vanadium tool steel to mild steel.

“Drop forged” should be pretty strong if they used good quality steel.

I dunno. They used beefy looking d rop- forged wrenches, cross-braced it and the welds look half-way decent. It’s not pretty but I don’t doubt it will survive. I can see this being done for a failed mount during a Lemons race.

It’s a Cummins 24V in a ratrod.

I could see that. Link?

Hmmm...I found it once before, but can’t seem to locate it on the googles. Apparently it’s not even the only one..

Thats for sure the same build. Interesting.

Oops. You’re right. OP is pass side, that one is DS. Good catch!
Actually I think it’s a 12V now...whoops...

I can’t decide if that’s a total abomination or a work of art.

man....i been looking for one of those wrenches for weeks
(okay...ive been looking for one in the cheapo shops as ill only need to use it like twice....could have had one by now if i was willing to pay for a quality tool....but im not....wheres my damn chinesium?.... apparently the whole damn country is buying tools now as everyones stuck at home and discovering diy....)
oh hey...i just noticed they used the part of the wrench they cut off as a brace...thats nice....efficient use of material...i approve

I’m not as enthusiastic about using a cam for what appears to be a structural member. Those are usually make of cast iron, which is brittle and heavy.

Thats an expensive solution

indeed. As has been discovered in the thread, this is a rat rod so it’ s there for the looks.

A friend who’s a marine master tech, and doesn’t own an adjustable like that because he despises them, would have an aneurysm looking at that.

I like sassier better.

What is that camshaft being used for? I really hope it isn't structural. Cams are brittle and weak to any bending/flexing.

that looks much better than this hacked steering system I photographed last fall.
